How to Get a Cleveland County Marriage License
Both applicants must appear in person at the Court Clerk's office. Walk-ins are accepted during business hours. Bring valid identification. The Cleveland County office accepts a certified copy of a birth certificate (state or county issued, not hospital), a state ID, military ID, a valid driver's license that is not expired, or a valid passport. Fill out the Marriage License Information Sheet and sign it under oath.
Adults 18 and older get their license the same day. No appointment is needed. For applicants aged 16 or 17, you need parental consent from one parent or legal guardian who must be present. A certified birth certificate (state or county issued) is also required for minors. If the birth certificate is from another country, it must be officially translated to English. The 72-hour waiting period applies for all minor applicants. No one under 16 can apply except by court order.
There is no blood test. There is no residency rule. If either person was divorced in Oklahoma, a six-month wait applies before remarrying someone new (unless you are getting back with your former spouse). Applicants who do not speak English must bring a third person to translate during the application process. The license is valid for 10 days and must be returned within 30 days of the ceremony.
Cleveland County court judges do NOT perform marriage ceremonies. You will need to find your own officiant.
