How to Get a Marriage License in Caddo County

Both people who want to get married must show up at the Court Clerk's office at the same time. You fill out the application in person and sign it under oath. Bring a valid form of ID such as a driver's license, birth certificate, passport, or military ID. The clerk will check your age and identity before processing the application. If both applicants are 18 or older, there is no wait. You get the license the same day.

For applicants aged 16 or 17, a parent or legal guardian must also be present to give consent. The minor must bring a certified birth certificate as proof of age. Under Oklahoma law, there is a 72-hour waiting period for applicants under 18. The application sits on file for at least three days before the clerk can issue the license. No blood test is required in Caddo County or anywhere else in Oklahoma. That rule was removed back in 2005.

Once the license is issued, it stays valid for 10 days. The ceremony must take place within that window. After the wedding, the officiant and two witnesses aged 18 or older sign the license. Then the signed document must go back to the Caddo County Court Clerk within 30 days. Under Oklahoma Statutes Title 43, Section 7, ordained ministers, judges, and retired judges can all perform ceremonies. Ministers no longer need to file credentials with the Court Clerk as of November 2022.

The original premarital counseling certificate is required if you want the reduced fee. No copies, faxes, or emails will be accepted for the discount.
