How to Apply for a Comanche County Marriage License

Comanche County lets you apply in person or by mail. For in-person visits, call (580) 355-4017 and press 4 to schedule an appointment first. Go to Room 205 at the courthouse. Both applicants must be present. Bring valid ID with names that match what is on the application. The Comanche County office accepts a state-issued driver's license, certified birth certificate with a raised seal, current passport, or conceal carry license.

If you have a foreign ID, you need a translated birth certificate. The Court Clerk lists Language International Group, LLC at (405) 632-7877 as a translation resource. Fill out the Marriage License Information Sheet using clear print or typed text. Include your full first, middle, and last name as you want it after the marriage. Both applicants must provide phone numbers on the form.

To apply by mail, send your completed application to Room 504 at the courthouse. Wait two business days, then call to schedule an appointment to come in and finalize the process. Payment can be made by cash, credit or debit card, money order, or cashier's check.

Adults 18 and older get the license with no waiting period. Minors aged 16 or 17 need parental consent and face a 72-hour wait. No blood test is needed. There is no residency rule. The license stays valid for 10 days. After the ceremony, two witnesses aged 18+ sign the license along with the officiant, and the original must be returned to the Court Clerk within 30 days.

Comanche County no longer performs courthouse marriages. You must find your own officiant. Under Title 43, Section 7, ministers, judges, and retired judges can perform ceremonies.

  • State-issued driver's license (not expired)
  • Certified birth certificate with raised seal
  • Current passport
  • Conceal carry license

Names on your ID must match the application exactly. If either person was divorced in Oklahoma, a six-month waiting period applies before remarrying someone new under Title 43 of the Oklahoma Statutes. That rule does not apply if remarrying a former spouse. Fort Sill military personnel frequently apply in Comanche County since they are stationed in the area.
