Applying for a Blaine County Marriage License

Both people must walk into the Blaine County Courthouse at the same time. You cannot have someone else apply for you. Bring a valid photo ID. A driver's license, passport, state ID, military ID, or certified birth certificate with a raised seal will all work. The clerk gives you an application form. Write in your legal name, birth date, address, and the name you plan to use after the wedding. If you have been married before, you need to provide the date your last marriage ended.

Pay the $50 fee and the clerk issues the license right away. Adults 18 and older do not wait at all. That is the standard rule under Oklahoma Statutes Title 43. Applicants who are 16 or 17 need a parent or legal guardian present, and they wait 72 hours before the license is given out.

The marriage license is valid for 10 days. Hold your ceremony during that time. A judge, retired judge, or ordained minister can perform the wedding. Two witnesses aged 18 or older must be present to sign the license. After the ceremony, return the completed license to the Blaine County Court Clerk within 30 days.

Note: Ministers no longer need to file credentials with the Blaine County Court Clerk before performing a marriage ceremony as of November 2022.

Oklahoma keeps the requirements straightforward. No blood test since 2005. No residency rule at all. You can live in another state and still get a marriage license in Blaine County. The key rule is age. You must be 18 to apply on your own. Ages 16 and 17 need parental consent.

Here is what the clerk needs to see when you apply for a Blaine County marriage license:

  • Valid photo ID such as a driver's license or passport
  • Certified birth certificate with a raised seal (if no photo ID)
  • Military ID if active duty or veteran
  • Social Security number for both parties
  • Details about any prior marriages, including date of divorce

People who divorced in Oklahoma have a six-month wait under Title 43 before they can marry someone new. That restriction does not apply when remarrying your former spouse. Foreign nationals need to bring a translated birth certificate along with their passport or other identification documents.

Blaine County Marriage License Fees
