Getting a Marriage License in Stephens County
Both people must go to the Stephens County Court Clerk together. You cannot send one person alone or have a friend apply for you. Bring valid photo ID and be ready to fill out the application on the spot. The form asks for full legal names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and details about any past marriages. If you have been married before, know the date your last marriage ended.
Pay the $50 fee and the clerk prints your marriage license that same visit. There is no waiting period for adults 18 and over. Under Oklahoma Title 43, couples can marry the same day they get the license. Applicants who are 16 or 17 need a parent present to give consent, plus a 72-hour waiting period kicks in. Anyone under 16 cannot get a marriage license in Stephens County without a court order.
After the ceremony, two witnesses and the officiant sign the license. Return the signed license to the Stephens County Court Clerk within 30 days.
