How to Get a Marriage License in Noble County

Both people who plan to marry must show up at the Noble County Court Clerk's office at the same time. One person cannot apply alone. Bring a valid form of photo ID. A driver's license, passport, state ID, or military ID all work. If you have a foreign ID, bring a translated birth certificate along with it. The clerk will have you fill out an application with your full name, date of birth, Social Security number, and the name you want to use after the wedding.

Pay the fee and the clerk issues the license right then. Adults 18 and older face no wait time at all under Oklahoma Statutes Title 43. The ceremony can take place the same day. Your license stays valid for 10 days from the date it is issued. After the wedding, the officiant and two adult witnesses must sign the license. It then goes back to the Noble County Court Clerk within 30 days so it becomes part of the county's permanent records. If you were married before, have the date your last marriage ended ready when you apply.

Note: Cash is the safest payment method at the Noble County Court Clerk office. Call (580) 336-5187 to check on other accepted payment forms.

Oklahoma sets the rules and they apply in every county. No blood test is needed. That old rule was removed in 2005. No residency requirement exists either. You could live in Kansas, just north of Noble County, and still walk in to apply. The license is good for use anywhere in the state of Oklahoma.

Age is a factor. Adults 18 and older do not need consent. Minors aged 16 or 17 must have a parent or legal guardian present who can sign a consent form. A 72-hour waiting period applies for anyone under 18. Nobody under 16 can get a marriage license unless a court has issued an order. These rules are set by state law and do not change from county to county. Here is what to bring to the Noble County courthouse:

  • Valid driver's license or state photo ID
  • Passport or certified birth certificate with raised seal
  • Military ID if you have one
  • Social Security number
  • Date of divorce or death decree if previously married

Two adult witnesses must attend the ceremony. The officiant can be a judge, a retired judge, or an ordained minister. Since November 2022, ministers are no longer required to file their credentials with the Court Clerk under O.S. Title 43, Section 7. If you were divorced in Oklahoma, you have to wait six months before you can marry someone new. That rule does not apply if you are remarrying the same person you divorced.
