Ardmore Marriage License Requirements

You fill out the Marriage License Information Sheet using black or blue ink. Both people sign under oath in front of the clerk. The whole process takes about 15 to 20 minutes on a slow day.

If both applicants are 18 or older, there is no wait at all. You walk out with the license the same day. For those aged 16 or 17, a parent or legal guardian must be present in the office. A certified birth certificate is required for minors too. There is a 72-hour waiting period for anyone under 18. Under Title 43 of the Oklahoma Statutes, no one under 16 can marry except by court order.

Marriage License Fees in Ardmore

The fee is $50 for a standard marriage license. Every county in Oklahoma charges the same. If you bring an original premarital counseling certificate showing at least four hours of counseling, the fee drops to $5. The counseling provider must be a licensed therapist, religious leader, or someone trained in a nationally recognized program. Oklahoma Statute 43 O.S. 5.1 has the full list of approved providers. Ardmore Marriage License Process

Once you have the license, the ceremony must happen within 10 days. An ordained minister, judge, or other authorized officiant performs the ceremony. Two adult witnesses must be present. They sign the license along with the officiant. As of November 1, 2022, ministers no longer need to register with the Court Clerk under O.S. Title 43, Section 7.
